Lesson sheet · Module 12
Insurance — life, savings, health, property
The aim of the lesson
Insure what you cannot bear; bear yourself what you can. And never buy an investment dressed up as insurance without seeing the fees.
- 👧 Child: we insure the big disasters, not the pencils.
- 🧑 Teenager: motor liability insurance protects others; check what protects you.
- 🧔 Adult:
- does someone depend on your income — then term insurance;
- a reserve for the small things;
- KID and IPID before you sign.
Your step in Pecuvo: a "Security" basket (insurance) with the yearly total. Set goals with renewal dates. Next to each policy, write down: what it covers, the excess, when it expires.
The topic (chapters of the module)
- Chapter 1 · How insurance works
- Chapter 2 · What is worth insuring
- Chapter 3 · Compulsory insurance
- Chapter 4 · Life: protection and savings insurance
- Chapter 5 · Unit-linked insurance: an investment dressed up as insurance
- Chapter 6 · Health and accidents
- Chapter 7 · Property
- Chapter 8 · How to read the contract
For the youngest · ages 6–7
🐣 The youngest: Imagine everyone in the class puts one coin into a shared box. When someone needs help, the box helps. For example, a new tyre for a bike. Everyone gives a little, and so no one is alone. This is caring for each other.
Play together (5 minutes): Make a family box for mending toys. Every evening, everyone drops in one button. When a toy needs glue or a patch, decide together that the box will help.
A question for the evening: "How can we help each other when someone needs help?"
A game from the catalogue: RS-01 "The rainy-day fund" — https://pecuvo.eu/igri/katalog/#rs-01 (in Bulgarian)
